Television & Classroom Productions

The Duncan Group has produced documentary television since 1985. Virtually all of our productions have achieved a national or international audience.

Our strengths as a documentary production company include adventure travel, spirituality, history & biography, natural history and social issue programming. Most of the time (though not always), there's an educational aspect to what we produce. We often produce a documentary in conjunction with a piece for the middle school or high school classroom. When possible, we look for ancillary components that support the production (such as the traveling photo museum we created to accompany the documentary Through One City's Eyes).

We function very well in the developing world, in wilderness, and on the streets of large urban areas. Our experience includes productions in more than 30 countries around the world.

Generally speaking, we look for stories that have strong emotional beats, great soundtrack potential, great characters, and a strong visual quality. We work best in natural light. While we do use film on occasion for documentaries, we're best at shooting with a variety of video cameras including HD, DV and Betacam SP.

Original music is a hallmark of our productions. We've been fortunate to work with many great composers including Chris Spheeris (who's scored more than 20 documentaries with The Duncan Group), Peter Buffett, David Barrett, and Randy Sabien. They can all be accessed through the "Links" page of this web site.

We're sincere in our work…and we take it very seriously. That said, we also love what we're doing and if it weren't a lot of fun, we wouldn't be doing it.
